Hi, I am using a 3 pin PIR sensor in my project. I have designed a PCB that will hold all my connections and am using an acrylic sheet to cover. The Fresnel lens of my PIR sensor needs to be glued onto the acrylic sheet to prevent moisture from entering the system. The distance between the PCB and acrylic sheet is larger than I expected. If I use a standard 0.8 mm (insulation) female header, I am introducing distance between the sensor and Fresnel lens and getting lots of false triggers.
Is it possible to get a 16-18 mm 3 pos female header? This would solve my problem. Alternative suggestions/solutions are welcome.

EDIT: 0.8 8 mm (insulation) female header
Hello prithulc,
Would you be looking for something like SAM15146-ND? The insulation height of this header is 16.13mm.
To clarify, I take it you have a separate Fresnel lens from the PIR sensor itself, and that you need the PIR sensor to be raised above the circuit board so that it comes within close proximity of the rear of the Fresnel lens.
- What is the part number of the PIR sensor?
- When you say “standard female header”, what do you mean by that? What is the pitch of the pins?
Hi David,
Apologies, I should have been more specific.

- Female header I am using right now (2.54 mm pitch, 8.51 mm insulation height): PPTC031LFBN-RC Sullins Connector Solutions | Connectors, Interconnects | DigiKey

Hi Nick,
I think this would work! I am using two of PPTC031LFBN-RC Sullins Connector Solutions | Connectors, Interconnects | DigiKey connectors stacked together for now and SAM15146-ND seems suitable.

Yep, @nick_13812’s offer seems to be right on the money, then.
