8b252 smd code SOT89

could someone help me to indentifY this chip, as i know pine1 output “maybe”, pine2 gnd, pine3 input (24v) it’s on motherboard brand THYSEN ref: UBA2-CMC4+

Hello sar001us,

Welcome to the DigiKey TechForum.

I’m sorry but I was not able to ID that chip. Looks like a voltage regulator at first glance or a transistor but there are no results for anything with that marking of 8B252. SOT89 package looks to be right but there are more than a few options of different ICs within that package.

Sorry for the inconvenience. Perhaps some other tech, or contributor might recognize this SMD IC it with that marking.

Hi sar001us ,

If it offers any assistance, this is a surface mount TO-243AA package, sometimes known as SOT-89-3, 3-HSIP, PW-MINI, and SC-62. Easily identified by having 3 “flat leads” and a tab. The tab allows heat dissipation to the board.

Clicking above link will provide all the component types within that package DigiKey carries, unfortunately there is no way to search based on part markings other than manually searching within each datasheet. Performing an analysis of the circuit and parts around the component may steer you in the right direction of what kind of component this would be.

Hola.

Hello! Hopefully there’s a spanish-speaking member of the forum who can look at this, but if not you can send your question to spanish.support@digikey.com to have it translated and sent to the technicians for assistance.

Hola,

Saludos,

APDahlen

Hello

I am unable to locate the 8B630 IC. However, given your description, we can assume that this is a 20 VDC linear voltage regulator with pins:

  1. output

  2. ground

  3. input

Questions: Is the regulator hot?

If yes, you likely have a fault somewhere downstream of the regulator. Recommendations:

  • trace the circuit to see what the regulator is driving

  • look for another hot component on the PCB

  • as a last resort, unsolder components that could potentially load down the regulator’s output.

Once again, we are assuming that is a 20 VDC linear regulator. This may not be true as 20 VDC is not a common circuit.

Please let us know what you find.

Best wishes,

APDahlen

Thank you @Adam7,

That second the second symbol is a B.

I’ll go back and fix the post.
