Connectors of this type have contacts arranged in linear rows and an outline which is generally rectangular, rather than circular. They are used for creating pluggable connections directly between printed circuit boards without use of wire or cable, and can provide a large number of electrical connections in a relatively small space. For this reason they are commonly used to connect components of space-constrained systems.
SelectionCharacteristics
Connector Type: Indicates the style and configuration of the device.
Number of Positions: Indicates the number of distinct conductors presented at a connector’s mating interface and the number of electrical contact points present within a connector.
Pitch: Indicates the center-to-center spacing between adjacent pins.
Number of Rows: Indicates how many rows the connector has.
Mounting Type: Indicates how the device is attached.
Features: These are different capabilities or properties of the device such as board guide, ground pin, or shutter.
Contact Finish: Indicates the finish/plating material applied to the contacts of the device.
Contact Finish Thickness: Indicates the thickness of the finish/plating material applied to the contacts of a device.
Mated Stacking Heights: The distance between mounting surfaces of a connector and its complement when mated. Applicable primarily to connectors used between parallel surfaces.
Height Above Board: Indicates how far the device will extend above the surface to which it has been attached.
