Free hanging or panel mount rectangular connectors are rectangular-shaped interconnects used to connect cable or wire together using a mating connector. These connectors are made for coaxial, discrete, ribbon, or flat flex cables. Major parameters needed to select these are pitch, number of positions and rows, and wire gauge.
SelectionCharacteristics
Connector Type: Indicates the style and configuration of the device.
Contact Type: Indicates the style and gender of the contacts.
Number of Positions: Indicates the number of distinct conductors presented at a connector’s mating interface and the number of electrical contact points present within a connector.
Pitch: Indicates the center-to-center spacing between adjacent pins.
Number of Rows: Indicates how many rows the connector has.
Row Spacing: The nominal center distance between rows of contacts of a connector.
Mounting Type: Indicates how the device is attached.
Fastening Type: The mating retention mechanism employed by the device.
Cable Termination: Describes the means by which a conductor is electrically and mechanically attached to its corresponding contact within a connector.
Wire Type: Indicates the style of wire or cable with which a connector is intended to be used.
Wire Gauge: The wire size or size range with which a product is designed for use, typically expressed in terms of American Wire Gauge.
Features: These are different capabilities or properties of the device such as backshell, closed end, or polarizing key.
Contact Finish: Indicates the finish/plating material applied to the contacts of the device.
Contact Finish Thickness: Indicates the thickness of the finish/plating material applied to the contacts of a device.
Color: The dominant color of the device.
