Specialized Backplane Connectors conform to a set of specifications for use with daughterboards, midplane, coplanar, or front boards, and are meant to be used in a backplane or rack and panel system. They are characterized by the connector type, number of positions, pitch, number of rows, and contact layout.

Connector Usage: Describes the connector type, style, or usage.
Connector Type: Indicates the format of the connectors used to connect this device.
Connector Style: An indication of the specific type of connection being used. Typically meets a standard.
Number of Positions: The total number of electrical conductors the device has.
Number of Positions Loaded: The total number of electrical conductors the device comes supplied and loaded into the connector body.
Pitch: Indicates the center-to-center spacing between adjacent pins.
Number of Rows: Indicates how many rows of contacts are on the device.
Number of Columns: The number of columns of signal contacts within the connector’s contact matrix; ground/shield contacts are not counted.
Mounting Type: Indicates how the device is attached.
Termination: Selection of termination style used to connect the device to a system, such as crimp, screw, or solder.
Contact Layout, Typical: The number and type of specific contacts on the device.
Features: Special features or functions the device includes.
Contact Finish: Indicates the finish/plating material applied to the contacts of the device.
Contact Finish Thickness: Indicates the thickness of the finish/plating material applied to the contacts of a device.
Color: The dominant color of the device.
