Backplanes

This Product Selection Guide contains information to help select products in the Backplanes category on DigiKey.com

Backplanes are boards with a series of connectors attached to them in parallel. They are often located on the rear of a card rack allowing connection for other boards or devices to be inserted into the connectors. The number of channels ranges from 2 to 21 with interface options such as CompactPCI, Standard Bus, Uncommitted, VME J1, VME J1/J2, and VME J1/J2/J0.


SelectionCharacteristics

Panel Units: Indicates nominal backplane height in term of standard rack units. (1U=1.75")

Number of Channels: The number of different connections the backplane can support.

Interface: The style of connection the backplane utilizes.

Connector Spacing: Pitch/center distance between card slots.
