A battery pack is a set of any number of battery cells connected and bound together to form a single unit with a specific configuration and dimensions. They may be configured in series, parallel or a mixture of both to deliver the desired voltage, capacity, or power density. Packs are identified by cell size, number of cells, battery structure, chemistry, chargeability, capacity, and voltage rating.
SelectionCharacteristics
Battery Chemistry: The primary active chemical composition of the battery, defining how it stores and discharges electricity.
Rechargeability: Whether or not the battery pack can be recharged once depleted.
Battery Cell Size: The physical form factor of the batteries that make up the pack.
Number of Cells: The number of individual batteries assembled to make the pack.
Voltage - Rated: The nominal voltage value supplied by the battery pack when it is fully charged.
Capacity: The battery pack’s total discharge capacity at its rated discharge rate, loosely equivalent to expected discharge lifetime.
Structure: The physical arrangement of cells within the battery pack.
Termination Style: The style of the terminations used to connect the device to the system, such as solder tab, wire leads, or terminal block.
Size/Dimension: The physical dimensions of the device, typically given in Length by Width by Height.
