I’m looking to find info about Boourns 3382 rotary position sensor.
The mechanical angle is 360 degrees and the electrical angle is only 330 degrees. So there is a 30 degrees deadband.
Where in the physical rotation of the sensor is the deadband located?
I have submitted an inquiry to verify.
I’d bet the center of the dead band is 180° from the data sheets’ orientation feature mark, which is the center of the wiper terminal.
While it’s possible to be in another position, nearly all potentiometers have the gap at the center of the wiper terminal to reduce manufacturing cost. (I used to work in the industry)
So I was able to get my hands on one of these potentiometers, and can confirm that your bet is correct.
