Gas Sensors

This Product Selection Guide contains information to help select products in the Gas Sensors category on DigiKey.com

Gas Sensors are designed to detect and respond to the presence or a change in the concentration of a gas. They are characterized by the type of gas being detected. Examples include: acetylene, alcohol, benzine, butane, ammonia, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, hydrogen, hydrogen sulfide, methane, natural gas, nitrogen dioxide, oxygen, ozone, propane, and sulfur dioxide.

SelectionCharacteristics

Specifications to determine which gas sensor is right for your application.

Type: Specifies the type of gas the sensor is designed to detect.

Oxygen Range: The range of oxygen partial pressure over which a sensor can produce a valid output response.

Accuracy: Typically listed as +/- and a percent, this is the amount of deviation that may occur from a perfect reading in the sensor. For example if the accuracy is +/-2% the reading given by the sensor may be higher or lower than the actual amount of gas in the environment by 2%.

Output: Indicates the type of electrical signal the device provides, such as analog or voltage.

Operating Temperature: Recommended operating temperature, typically given in a range or as a maximum. Exceeding these temperatures may affect performance or damage the device and other system components.

Voltage - Supply: Typically represented by a range, this indicates the low and high voltage limits which one can expect standard operation. Voltages outside this range may damage the device and other system components.

Current - Supply: This represents the maximum current to which a device will meet its given specifications. Exceeding this current may damage the device and/or other system components.
