Products in this family are woven from fine strands of conductive material into a form having either a rectangular or circular cross-section, and sold as either a simple length of such material or an assembly with a terminal of some form pre-applied. The woven construction provides significant flexibility, and in the case of tubular materials, an interesting property of constricting diametrically when stretched axially allows it to function as a “finger trap”. Such products are commonly used for creating electrical connections between machine or enclosure components, and in cable harness assembly for purposes of electrostatic shielding, abrasion resistance, or cosmetic purposes.
SelectionCharacteristics
Type: Defines the primary construction style of the device, indicating which type of part it is and determining its general usage.
Material: Indicates the material composition of the product.
Size, Supplied: Characteristic material dimension; nominal diameter for tubular products, or width for flat products.
Thickness: The device’s height; the lesser of its cross-sectional dimensions for flat products, or the wall thickness of tubular products.
Number of Carriers: The number of filament bundles from which the braid is woven.
Wire Gauge - Ends: Indicates the wire size of the individual material strands from which a product is woven.
Length: Indicates the length of the product.
