Heat tape and heat blankets are flexible heating elements often made of silicone rubber, polyester, or polyimide whose purpose is to heat up and keep items from freezing or dipping below a desired temperature. Commonly used in aerospace and automotive applications, along with animal feeders, ATM machines,water pipes, gutters and various applications.
SelectionCharacteristics
Type: Indicates the style and configuration of the device.
Temperature Rating: The maximum temperature output rating for the device.
Watt Density @ 12V: Indicates the amount of thermal power dissipated by a heating element per unit of area when supplied with a 12V input.
Power (Watts): Typically this rating indicates the nominal amount of power you would expect the device to consume during normal operation.
Voltage: Typically indicates the voltage which one can expect during standard operation. Voltages outside this range may damage the device and other system components.
Resistance: Characterizes the nominal resistance of a current path through a device.
Shape: Indicates the shape of the device.
Length: Indicates the overall length of the device.
Width: Indicates the overall width of the device.
Diameter: Indicates the overall diameter of the device.
Thickness: Indicates the overall material thickness, inclusive of cover sheets, adhesives, etc.
Material: Indicates the material composition of the device.
Attachment Method: Indicates whether the device has pressure sensitive adhesive or not.
Termination: Selection of termination style used to connect the device to a system, such as wire leads.
Length - Lead Wire: Indicates length of interconnect wires or cable, for parts equipped therewith.
Material - Insulation: Indication of the type of material used in the fabrication of the insulation.
Wire Gauge: The wire size or size range with which a product is designed for use, expressed in terms of American Wire Gauge.
Color: The dominant color of the device.
Approval Agency: An indication that the product meets the minimum safety standards of an approving agency. These agencies are either government entities or private third-party labs that protect consumer safety.
Features: These are different capabilities or properties of the device such as potted leads.
