This is a problem getting from Toshiba, This shows us the equivalent so my question is for a Yamaha 100 Watt receiver would this be close enough equivalent for reasonably good sound??

The EVVO 2SC5198 was designed for audio power amplifier.

Please verify that you are replacing a Toshiba 2SC5198 with the proposed EVVO 2SC5198. If yes, both a Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) and should have nearly identical specifications.

  • Reasonably good? Absolutely

  • Perfect? Very few could tell the difference.

Consider replacing the driver transistors as they may have been weakened by the output transistor failure. Same story for the complementary (assumed) 2SA1941.
