Identifying Part Maked BP5179F

Appears to be a current sense LED driver recessed ceiling light. Empty google search results. No reply email reply from BrightPower. No data sheet. Looking for data sheet or equivalent.

Hi sales.opd,

Welcome to the TechForum.

If the lighting fixture is made by “BrightPower” and the chip is marked “BPxxxx”, it’s almost certainly either a full custom chip designed for them or a re-labeled chip from some company who makes LED driver chips.

If it’s the latter, then there’s an obscure chance that you could figure it out by carefully diagramming out the circuit schematic and then comparing that to datasheets of LED driver chips in the same package type.

That part appears to be an 8-pin SOIC package, though one can’t be sure without measuring it. Some of these chips also have a bare-metal pad on the underside for improving thermal characteristics. You’d have to remove the chip from the board to find out whether yours does or not.

Wow…fast reply than you.

yes on the bare metal pad having removed others. I have looked at other datasheets and have not found a pinout match. without specs, hard to find equivalent and was hoping that some obscure xreference was out there.

I’m afraid not. At least not that I am aware of. Sorry.
