Is My 1750E Transformer Bad?

I’m measuring this transformer…..between red and blue. 114ohms. Between red and brown. 3:6 ohms and between blue and brown 117ohms. Does this mean it is bad….

Greetings,

According to the spec sheet the red lead should be the center tap on the primary, and show roughly equal resistance to either brown or blue.

If your measurements are correct, it would seem to indicate that half the primary winding has developed a short and the transformer would need replacement. Fortunately they’re in stock at the moment, assuming you’re after Hammond Mfg. P/N 1750E.

Note that such failures may either cause or be caused by other issues in the equipment, and that merely replacing the transformer may not be sufficient to complete a repair.
