I have a Kenwood KA-6100 with a blown power transformer. I cannot find one and looking for an equivalent for my system. The part number is L01-1461-05.
Looks like you have two 30VAC outputs, both with center tap, and a 7.5VAC
I do not see that we have this combination for secondary voltages.
Hello @jomicman,
Welcome to the TechForum.
That’s a beautiful amplifier.
Unfortunately, as @Kristof_2649 pointed out, it is difficult to locate a replacement as these were custom constructed transformers matched to the amplifier.
Know that I have no way of knowing who you are, so I’m going to cautiously ask a question. How do you know that it is blown? Loss of a transformer is rare, and I hope that we can discover that it is still good.
If it is not, I recommend you look to online auctions.
Best wishes,
APDahlen
AP and Krstof, thanks for the intel, I will have to ensure that it is indeed blown.
If I do find it is indeed blown, can I build a “transformer” by using 3 discreet transformers with the proper voltage / current? I am not sure if this is possible.
Thanks again.
I don’t know that I’d recommend going to individual transformers, even if they fit.
Crowding the inside of that box might end up with cross talk/EMI noise and it’s kind of an expensive experiment if you did end up with noise.
If you did try this you would want to go with well shielded transformers intended for audio that mitigate noise and would likely be more expensive than finding a donor amplifier to harvest from.
