Linear Variable Differential Transformer (LVDT) transducers are used for making relatively precise measurements of position or displacement. Based on the concept of using the displacement to be measured to move a magnetic core relative to a set of transmitting and receiving coils and thereby affecting the coupling between them in an electrically measurable way, their mechanism of action is not directly subject to wear.

Specifications to determine which LVDT transducer is right for your application.
Linear Range: Represents the distance the rod can travel. Typically listed as +/- because it can travel in either direction. For example if it has a linear range of +/-2in it can travel 2 inches in either direction.
Size/Dimension: The physical dimensions of the device.
Features: These are different capabilities or properties of the device such as
adjustable, high reliability, and spring loaded.
Operating Temperature: Recommended operating temperature, typically given in a range or as a maximum. Exceeding these temperatures may affect performance or damage the device and other system components.
