Hello. I am working on a project to detect vehicles entering and exiting a parking lot using a sensor for each. I would like to use either magnetic field sensors or pressure sensors to accomplish this, but I am unsure on what things to consider and what sensors are the best to accomplish this task. Could I receive some guidance and recommendations of sensors?
Hello,
Welcome to the DigiKey TechForum. Take a look at the 2170-Q90R2-12040-6KDQ-ND sensor from Banner. This may be an option that will work for vehicles entering and exiting .
Thank you. Is there any pressure sensors available that can be used as entry/exit sensor instead of the radar sensor?
Hi SanchoPalmer,
One could probably use a pressure sensor along with some sealed hollow tubing to create a sensor. Attach one end to a pressure sensor and the other side would be sealed. Then when a vehicle drives over the tube, it is compressed, causing an increase in pressure. However, as far as I know, we don’t carry any product specifically designed for this purpose.
One can find a number of such products around the internet that are specifically designed for this application which would definitely get you up and running more quickly. If you are doing this to learn and experiment, then using one of our pressure sensors might be fine, but if you are looking for a working solution, then I would recommend finding one of those with a Google search.
