Panel Indicators, Pilot Lights

This Product Selection Guide contains information to help select products in the Panel Indicators, Pilot Lights category on DigiKey.com

Panel Indicators and Pilot Lights are designed to emit visible light to indicate a specific state of another device. These items are mounted into a panel. The types of lights are Incandescent, LED, and Neon, with lamp colors of Amber, Blue, Clear, Cyan, Green, Orange, Red, White, and Yellow. The voltage range from 1.6 V to 480 V and the current ranges from 0.3 mA to 10 A with Millicandela ratings from 0.2 mcd to 46860 mcd.

SelectionCharacteristics

Type: Indicates the type of bulb technology.

Lamp Color: Indicates the color(s) output by the device.

Lens Color: Indicates the color of a device’s lens as it appears under incident ambient lighting. May differ from the color of light emitted by a device.

Lens Transparency: Indicates the level of transparency of the lens.

Ratings: Minimum performance standards of the device, which are typically set by a third party.

Voltage: Typically this rating indicates the nominal amount of voltage you would expect the device to draw during normal operation.

Current: Typically this rating indicates the nominal amount of current you would expect the device to draw during normal operation.

Panel Cutout Shape: Indicates the shape of the panel cutout.

Panel Cutout Dimensions: Refers to the measurements or dimensions of the opening or cutout in the panel used for mounting.

Lens Size: Indicates the diameter, length and width of the lens.

Lens Style: Indicates the shape of a device’s lens.

Millicandela Rating: Characterizes device brightness at the indicated test current or nominal input voltage.

Wavelength - Peak: Characterizes the highest point in a device’s output spectrum when operated at rated test conditions.

Viewing Angle: Indicates the angle of light emitted from the LEDs.

Termination Style: Selection of termination style used to connect the device to a system, such as cable leads, PC pins, or wire leads.

Ingress Protection: IP (Ingress Protection) Ratings (IP20, IP65, IP67, etc.) - Define how likely it is that water and dirt will get into the system. The first number is for dirt and solid contaminants and the second number is for water.

IP Ratings
