------Question for LD20-2600B Please Put your question below------
I would like to inquire about the following three products from Sensirion AG.
Flow Sensors
Sensor Board / PCB
- EVALUATION KIT SLF3S Series
Below is the operating environment in which we intend to use the flow meter:
-
Test tube specifications: OD (1/8", 3.17 mm), ID (0.63", 1.6 mm) / rigid (fluororesin)
-
Fluids: water, organic solvents (ethanol, DCM), and various other fluids
-
Temperature: room temperature, 80°C
1. Calibration functionality
As we use different fluids for each test, we would like to actively utilize a model or flow meter that includes a calibration function, if available.
2. Availability of reference fluids / reference data
Since we plan to use a wide range of fluids, we would like to confirm whether Sensirion provides fluid-specific references (e.g., correction data depending on the fluid) for its flow meters. In addition, after placing a purchase order, would it be possible to receive and use such reference data?
3. Reproducibility of the calibration function
When applying the calibration function to different fluids, it is critical for us to ensure reproducibility of measurement results under the same conditions even when the measurement date changes. If there are recommended operating methods or best practices to maintain reproducibility, we would appreciate your guidance.
4. Minimum and maximum measurable flow rate (mL/min)
Assuming the use of a non-contact flow meter, our target flow range is 20 mL/min (minimum) to 150 mL/min (maximum). If it is difficult to meet this range exactly, we would like to purchase the most suitable flow meter that can measure a range as close as possible to our target.
5. Availability of demo equipment
If there is a flow meter that meets our application needs, we would like to conduct preliminary testing using a demo unit prior to placing an order. If this is possible, please advise the application procedure and how we can coordinate the schedule.
If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact us at any time.
Thank you.
Hello wooseong and welcome to the DigiKey TechForum.
I see nothing indicating a calibration function in regard to any of these items. Although they do appear to provide information on how to verify sensor performance on page 13 of the operating manual linked HERE.
You can find the compatibility table on page 2 of this Chemical Resistance Application Note, for information on what would be most likely suitable for long term use, possibly suitable for short/medium duration, or likely not suitable for these items.
From what I can see on the manufacturer page, the LD20-2600B is for low flow rates up to 16.6 ml/min. Similarly, for the SLF3S-1300F, this is shown on the manufacturer page as having a flow sensing up to 40 ml/min.
Questions of this kind begin to be business related and require knowledge of non-documented product behaviors to answer well; asking sensor manufacturers directly may be useful, but I do have some additional insights to offer.
- The SLFS-1300F has built-in calibrations for H2O and IPA, described on p.11 of the datasheet.
If one refers to the datasheet for the SLI-series sensors however, it can be seen that the difference in fluid properties results in behaviors that vary by a factor of 5-10 for this sensor.
Considering the number of fluids that exist, it is not very practical to develop calibrations for any but the most common prior to having an identified need, and since the behavior of a given sensor can vary so broadly with changes in fluid properties it may be difficult to find a single sensor (or sensor family) that will meet your requirements across all or many fluids.
2, 3, & 4 ) These are questions that are best asked directly of the manufacturer; whether Sensirion has alternative calibrations available and/or the conditions under which they would be willing to develop or share such information begins to become a business-related question. Regardless, if the desired product requires production changes to standard product (such as programming additional/different calibration curves into memory) then naturally it would be necessary to order those as a custom item.
- DigiKey does not facilitate the loaning of demonstration units at this time.
