RE: PICO-PI-IMX7 and Siging In/Um?

@neuberfran, by default everything is setup, but it allows you to make any changes. If you just want to build it hit “esc” twice…

Regards,

@RobertCNelson I have last questions about dfu 0 mmc 0 and ums 0 mmc 0 commands

  1. i will need to use mmc dev 1 before ums 0 mmc 0?
  2. the correct would not be to use dfu 0 mmc 1 and ums 0 mmc 1?(I don’t have sd card in my board/device)

What about ums 0 mmc 0 issues commands (pic attached)

  1. Table entry array CRC is wrong
  2. ERROR: Invalid GPT
  3. count 0x720000

No

The Pico imx7 doesn’t have a microSD slot, 0 = eMMC…

As long as the drive show’s up on your linux development system, it’s fine…

It’ll get cleared up the first time you run:

pico_clear_bootloader

@RobertCNelson

@RobertCNelson Please help me more in this: https://community.nxp.com/message/1249081?commentID=1249081#comment-1249081

@neuberfran, please re-state your issue.

Regards,

@RobertCNelson Tks. I will do this. I have two pico-imx7d SOM modules dead here. I also have all the parts of the kit that I can’t sell ( baseboards, Rainbow HAT, wifi antennas, LCDs CSi display). No one buys without the SOM…

One of the chances that I have damaged my device is to have used the “eMMC-Brillo-uboot-fuse” container instead of “eMMC-Brillo-uboot” and killed my device. (*foto01 attached):*The moment I followed steps 1 through 6 of this link: https://community.nxp.com/thread/452013

https://drive.google.com/open?id=16MjLV-btGDX39igNjcg1M_xC2tr5rP_N
Since then, my device is no longer recognized, neither on w10 pc nor linux pc ubuntu 19.04(foto02)

I bought at mouser a new main chip of imx7d-pico(MCIMX7D7DVM10SC) sound module and made the switch.(foto03)

the only best one was foto04. Before, not even that I could.

In my last questions in NXP community,(https://community.nxp.com/message/1249081?commentID=1249081#comment-1249081) Igorpadykov owed me some answers, which you may know:

mainline uboot/linux which are quite different than nxp software and technexion?

Where can I get the original software (from technexion) to put in MCIMX7D7DVM10SC (imxd7-pico main chip)

Will this finally solve my problem?

https://drive.google.com/open?id=16MjLV-btGDX39igNjcg1M_xC2tr5rP_N

e.g. about technexion: This company’s forum does not accept posts. They do not answer my emails.Those people don’t talk to me anymore. I was never rude

Why didn’t you just get a new SOM, instead of replacing the IMX7 cpu?

https://www.technexion.com/products/system-on-modules/pico/pico-compute-modules/detail/PICOIMX7

Technexion’s installer can be found here:

https://www.technexion.com/support/download-center/?wpv-product=pico-imx7-emmc&wpv_aux_current_post_id=78&wpv_view_count=181-TCPID78

Which points to:

ftp://ftp.technexion.net/demo_software/PICO/IMX7/pico-imx7-emmc/DiskImage/pico-imx7_pi_android-9.0.0-2.2.0_QCA9377_lcd-800x480_20191009.zip

Open up that *.zip archive and follow the pdf with the Installation Guide…

However since i don’t know how or with who you had the IMX7 replaced, there a chance it still won’t work. BGA’s are not trivial…

Regards,

@RobertCNelson I am not thinking of buying a new SOM. The company does not sell me direct (I am a physical person). Shipping is expensive and my country charges 100% customs fees via UPS, FEDEX and DHL*(courier transport)* . I spent $163.87 with the simple change of chip.If these procedures you mentioned don’t work, you can help me by sending a new USPS SOM. I pay you off.

What about mfgtool2? I’m still investigating in detail what damaged my pico-imx7d SOM

  1. In photo121 (attached) What is the command blkdiscard for? Could leaving this command (8 minutes longer than it should:https://community.nxp.com/thread/517299 ) running on Host PC have damaged my device? What other photo list command (photo121) may have damaged my device?

Having left 8 minutes longer, may have made it jump from container thus unduly going to the “eMMC-Brillo-uboot-fuse” Container ???

  1. Why my ucl2.xml don’t have Container ? (photo122)

We do not Stock the SOM, but end users can order it as a Non-Catalog

Or you can order it directly from TechNexion:
https://shop.technexion.com/pico-imx7-467.html

NXP/Freescale wrote mfgtool2, it’s best if you contact them directly. I’ve had no personal reason to use that tool yet…

blkdiscard will discard all blocks on the device. (force erase blocks marked as erased)
http://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man8/blkdiscard.8.html

<! -- create partition -->
^That’s a comment… That’s also from i.MX8M EVK, you need to be careful i.MX8 is NOT a i.MX7…

In this link, What about nickname and password? (ftp)

We do not control that server. From my experience TechNexion’s ftp account allow “1” anonymous connection to view or download a file.

Regards,

@RobertCNelson Based on your information (and the things I’ve already done) I tried to gather the information from the sites below and not get success with the commands:

./imx_uart /dev/ttyUSB0 mx7_usb_work.conf pico-imx7d_bootbomb_20170112.imx
&
./imx_uart /dev/ttyUSB0 pico-imx7d_bootbomb_20170112.imx
&
./imx_uart /dev/ttyUSB0 mx7_usb_work.conf u-boot.imx
&
imx_usb u-boot.imx (of course, conform github, imx_usb wouldn’t work because the SOM is dead)

the ftp-pdf file I pulled not contain UART option

@neuberfran, unless you can get it in usb rom boot mode:

lsusb | grep Freescale
Bus 00x Device 00y: ID 15a2:0076 Freescale Semiconductor, Inc

I’m not sure I can really help you. Thus your best bet is to talk with NXP/Freescale Engineers.

Regards,

@RobertCNelson nxp engineers have done what they can and now send me to technexion engineers (who don’t answer me).

There is one thing you can do, the last. Chat with this guy: Richard-hu

technexion engineer who blocked me (without answering important questions). He said that via SW there is nothing to be done. Ask him what I can do via hw and tell him to already change the main ic SOM:

@neuberfran,

Oh Richard Hu, i’m aware of his work, he has been working on these devices for TechNexion for many years. If he says it’s HW problem, then it’s a HW problem.

I’m sorry, if “he” blocked you, that’s between you and him.

But based on all the emails/threads I’m also a little worried, that after removing the BGA on your existing SOM and adding a new one, you may have also damaged the base board on the next power up. So by following my earlier recommendation, replacing the SOM might not fix the issue either.

Regards,

@RobertCNelson and @neuberfran,

Hello you two…Seth here. @neuberfran, I know for a fact that I got my PICO-PI-IMX7 to boot w/ the instructions that @RobertCNelson gave. I have a working Debian image on my board now.

@neuberfran, I did not try the installed image as it did not work. The Android Things images do not work for me (for whatever reason). I tried.

I also understand how complicated things can get and how quickly it can get frustrating. @neuberfran, I am sorry you have been unable to get your board up and running. So, trying from scratch might work. I know I had to follow the instructions precisely. I also know that I made some mistakes in the first couple rounds of me taking time out to install those images on my PICO-PI-IMX7.

This is what I say outside of what you two have been discussing, erase everything and start from scratch.

I even saw a thread in here where the fellow got WiFi working. Although the fellow did not reply to me directly, the person did state that WiFi was up and running (I think).

Seth

P.S. @neuberfran, there is not a big following to this direct board and the Wandboard people might have chose to take a different approach in CS (Customer Service). I know that the Wandboard people would not reply directly to my messages. I mean, I can understand. I am just one person. So, in hindsight, please erase your contents and start from scratch. I think you can figure it out. All hope aside, it is not easy. I think TechNexion just gives direct links now for this board and does not do one-on-one approaches with the CS of this board but who knows? You may get to discuss something with someone one day. So, good luck and I cannot wait to here how you get this board up and running.
