Smart Cables

Smart Cables are cables with interconnects on one or both ends that have electronic components built into one or both of the terminating connectors. The characteristics are usage, convert from, convert to, length, and shielding. The usage includes USB null modem, USB to IEEE 1284, USB to MPSSE, USB to RS232, USB to RS422, USB to RS485, USB to TTL Serial (1.8V,3.3V,5V), USB to UART, and USB to UART/ Raspberry Pi (RPi).


SelectionCharacteristics

Usage: Defines the different data standards the smart cable is designed to translate between.

Convert From (Adapter End): The physical form factor or style of the connector on the signal-in end of the cable.

Convert To (Adapter End): The physical form factor or style of the connector on the signal-out end of the cable.

Length: The length of the cable assembly, this length may or may not include the connectors. Please consult the individual datasheets.

Shielding: Whether or not the device possesses an electrically insulating barrier that helps to reduce or eliminate electromagnetic interference.
