Hello,
Just signed up for a RevX CONNECT account through DigiKey. I have a couple of Semtech RV55/RV50X’s that I want to do some testing with to see if this provider is a viable option for a client. Does anyone know the process for getting static IPs set on SIMs through RevX? Can I just order them through DigiKey and make a request with RevX support? Or do I need to order them directly from RevX?
Thanks!
Hello bpomerhn,
I am checking with our Product Manager for RevX as to the process for setting up static IP address.
Best regards,
Hello @bpomerhn,
You can use this link from our website, DigiKey Wireless Data Plans powered by RevX CONNECT to set up an account and activate a SIM card purchased from DigiKey.
If you need a Static IP address they need to email support@revxsystems.com.
RevX charges a $25 setup fee to assign a static IP to a SIM.
@bpomerhn,
Apologies, unfortunately RevX does not offer Static IP’s anymore. Here is the statement from RevX:
We unfortunately no longer can offer static IP’s. Support was dropped in late 2022 due to a couple of primary factors.
We found that many static ip devices were not being properly secured from external traffic, creating unexpected usage issues and contests for the customers.
When a customer changes device status, a new IP is assigned, creating a tricky operationally challenge particularly for customers with devices out in remote field locations or with downstream customers themself. Additionally, Verizon has largely slowed allocation of new ip’s to use.
Due to the challenges, we decided it was best to drop support for static and only offer what we know to be the reliable options. Sorry for the confusion!
