Substitute capacitors

I am looking for these caps, 0.01uf 400v , 0.022uf 400v ,0.047uf 400v , but your site is showing no results…what can i use instead

Hello @mikecasey,

As an example, consider the 0.01 uF capacitor. I recommend two things.

  1. Allow for both 0.01 uF and 10,000 pF markings

  2. Allow for higher voltages up to 600 VDC

Here is a list of candidate parts for the 0.01 uF capacitor.

Assuming you are restoring a vacuum tube audio amplifier, I’ve seen a bias toward using the “orange drop” capacitors such as this:

Please let us know if you were able to locate the other capacitors. Also, request a picture of your project as I always like to see where the DigiKey parts are used.

Sincerely,

Aaron

P.S. As a general rule, the tolerance for capacitors using in the vacuum tube electronics is “in the neighborhood.” Consequently, a 0.05 uF capacitor could stand in for a 0.047 uF unit.
