We are using Onsemi’s HCPL062N (Logic Output Optoisolator, 10 Mbps, 8-SOIC) in one of our products.
The device provides an isolation between the microcontroller UART TX/RX lines and the external UART connection.
Out of approximately 1800 components assembled on about 900 boards, we have experienced 19 failures so far.
All the failed devices were located on the UART-TX side and replacing them restored normal communication.
We noticed that the failed units have a slightly more yellowish body color compared to the other devices, and their Date Code is 337 (2023, week 37).
We are concerned that other components which passed testing might also fail after some time, since two of the failed units initially passed all tests and failed later during system-level testing.
We would appreciate your help in forwarding this issue to the relevant quality or applications team at Onsemi and advising on possible next steps for investigation or failure analysis.
I tried first to contact Onsemi support but their answer was that I must contact through Digikey Because we and our sub contractors purchased it from Digikey
Thank you in advance for your support,
Best regards,
