Solid state thermostat products are semiconductor-based temperature detection devices that produce a two-state output, the state of which changes in response to the measured temperature exceeding a fixed limit or falling outside a defined window. Devices with pre-set threshold temperatures as well as programmable/configurable thresholds are available.
Trip Temperature Threshold: Indicates if a device output is active when sensed temperature is below a setpoint (“cold”) or above a setpoint (“hot”).
Switching Temperature: The nominal temperature at which a device’s output changes state. Actual temperature switchpoints are subject to manufacturing tolerances and hysteresis effects.
Accuracy: Manufacturer’s specified measurement error limits across a specified temperature/temp range.
Current - Output (Max): The maximum amount of current that can be output by the device.
Output Type: Describes the method of how the device provides the output.
Output: Describes the relative direction the output values move when the device activates.
Output Function: Indicates what a device’s output signals are intended to represent, and the logic sense (active low vs. active high) of these signals.
Selectable Hysteresis: Indicates if a device’s hysteresis level (amount that temperature must travel past the device set point to cause a change in output) is user-confugurable.
Features: Special features or functions the device includes.
Voltage - Supply: Typically represented by a range, this indicates the low and high voltage limits which one can expect standard operation. Voltages outside this range may damage the device and other system components.
Current - Supply: This represents the maximum current to which a device will meet its given specifications. Exceeding this current may damage the device and/or other system components.
Operating Temperature: Recommended operating temperature, typically given in a range or as a maximum. Exceeding these temperatures may affect performance or damage the device and/or other system components.
Mounting Type: Indicates how the device is attached.
Package / Case: Describes the footprint and type of body the item has based on a general standard.
Supplier Device Package: Describes the footprint and type of body the item has based on what the manufacturer names it.
