Variable Transformers

This Product Selection Guide contains information to help select products in the Variable Transformers category on DigiKey.com

Variable transformers, or adjustable voltage transformers, allow the user to select an output voltage while maintaining a fixed amperage rating. These transformers have one voltage winding that is tapped at various points to provide multiple output voltages. They are available in bench or panel mount with receptacle or terminal output options, plug or terminal input options, and a wide variety of supply and output voltages.

SelectionCharacteristics

Type: Describes the physical format of the device.

Output Type: Describes the connection being used for the output of the device.

Voltage - Output: Indicates the nominal voltage the item is designed to provide.

Voltage - Supply: Typically represented by a range, this indicates the low and high voltage limits which one can expect standard operation. Voltages outside this range may damage the device and other system components.

Input Type: Indicates how the item gets powered.

Constant Current Load - Max: Maximum continuous output current rating, applicable over full adjustment range.

Size: Indicates the overall dimensions of the device.
