VCO Evaluation Board Set-up

I’ve got this VCO

along with the board

for a continuous frequency sweep generator circuit.

(1) I’ve got no idea how to mount 16-QFN VCO on the evaluation board. Do I solder or use some conducting paste or am I missing some connector?

(2) The board has these 3 female SMA connectors: RF, Vcc and Vt. How to give Vcc and Vt using SMA.

(3) Is Vt analog? I’ve designed ramp generator using 555 timer IC. It gives a controllable voltage ramp. Do I feed this ramp to Vt of the evaluation board or do I need a DAC or choose some different approach?

Hello faran,

Welcome to the DigiKey TechForum.

The VCO chip is soldered onto the Eval board. The indents or concave shapes are the solder points.

Check the Datasheet for the pinout of the Vcc, RF, and Vt, and line them up with the solder points on the board.

You can get cables with SMA connectors, or just the connectors you can put on your cables.

The Vt would be Analog, and the range on the datasheet is 0~12.0VDC.
