Wireless Power Transfer IC without extra features

I have a client doing a research project which is looking for a way to wirelessly transfer a good deal of power. Unfortunately, due to the application, using a standard like Qi or whatnot won’t really work.

Basic requirements:

  • 50-100W into the TX coil.
  • A required minimum efficiency can’t be there because the received power is low due to distance.
  • Frequency is my choice, but should be picked somewhere between 200k-1MHz. (Alternative would be 20-100kHz to consider induction cooktop drivers, but tbd on what’s available.)

I was hoping to use a Qi Charging IC where I could defeat the foreign object detection and other features, so I could use the chip overall.

Are there any chips that would fit this bill?

Hi seth,

I wasn’t certain how to filter all the paramaters you requested through our PMIC section of product, however I found something within 50W range from Infineon Technologies in part 448-WLC1150-68LQXQ-ND. Take a look at its data sheet and see if we’re on the right track here.

Hope that helps.

Hi Irfan,

That is very much on the right track. I’m looking now to see if the protocol portion can be overridden, as the receiving device won’t be sending any data back.
