I’ve been able to find items “close” to what I believe is an ALPS Dual Shaft Potentiometer with the specs pictured, but not with these specs. I am a novice trying to find this part to replace a volume/balance knob on a piece of Roland Proaudio equipment. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
Hell @rmaizner,
Here is a list of related parts.
To help downselect:
-
Are there any part numbers on the potentiometer?
-
What is meant by “not with these specs”?
-
What is the purpose of the control? The reason I ask is that we need to determine the taper as described in this article.
-
Name the equipment and specific circuit designation. This may help, as occasionally we are able to locate a schematic.
Best wishes,
APDahlen

The only numbers on the potentiometer are what is shown in my photo -
What is meant by “not with these specs”?
I meant I was only able to find potentiometers that looked to have the same physical characteristics as mine, but not the correct specs. -

This part is needed to replace a combination master volume/balance control on a vintage Roland Digital Audio Mixer Model M-1000. -

I found the schematic here. On page 4, it describes this potentiometer as follows:
“ 9 03017012 9M/M ROTARY POT. RK0972210C0N 10KBx2”
Here is the link to the schematic document: https://www.synthxl.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Roland-M-1000-Service-Manual.pdf
Hopefully this information allows you to drill down to the exact part needed.
Thank you!

Hello Robert,
We are close!
I’m not confident that this is the same as the shaft concentric rings look different. However, now that we know the family, we can search more effectively.
Tech Tip: Be sure to look at the datasheet, as the images are often general representations of the part.
Here is a link to related member of the RK09 family.
Sincerely,
Aaron
Hi Aaron,
Yes, it’s a little hard to see if there’s any physical difference with those concentric rings when comparing the part in my had to the actual component photo.
I’m a bit confused though, as the links you emailed, both for the RK097221005C and to the related member of the RK09 family seem to point to the same component part number/URL?
Are there links to any other components besides the RK097221005C that I can review ?
Also, are the electrical specs for the RK097221005C exactly the same as my old component in the photo that I sent to you?
Thank you, and Best regards,
-Robert
Apologies, Robert.
The link has been repaired.
I believe they are the same. Both appear to be linear taper 10 k Ohm dial-gang potentiometers.
You will need to compare the datasheet measurements with the one you have in your hand. A dial or vernier caliper would be especially handy.
Sincerely,
Aaron
P.S. Be sure to verify the PCB spacing.
I’m sorry…where would I find the repaired link Aaron?
I drilled down through that family, and don’t see anything else that looks remotely close physically to the switch I have now except for the RK097221005C, so unless you have any other suggestions I guess I’ll run a Hail Mary and order that one
I am not seeing any other options.
Order placed. Fingers crossed!
