Cable and cord grip products, sometimes also called cable feedthroughs, cable glands, or cable seals, are a family of products used to mechanically secure a cable or wire as it passes through an enclosure wall or exits a sealed conduit, guarding against abrasion at the exit point and damage to the internal portion from excess tension applied to the outer portion. Many such products also provide a high degree of environmental protection, allowing an enclosure to remain sealed against ingress of moisture even though a cable or wire is passed through its outer wall.
Type: Defines the primary construction style of the device, indicating which type of part it is and determining its general usage.
Outside Cable Diameter (Min): indicates the minimum (smallest) diameter of cable the device is rated to function correctly with. Cables with diameters smaller than this figure will be loose in the device, causing it to fail to perform up to its rated specifications.
Outside Cable Diameter (Max): Indicates the maximum (largest) diameter of cable the device is rated to function correctly with.
Thread Size: The threading specification for the device’s mounting threads.
Thread Length: Defines the total length of threading available to mount the device in a panel or surface.
Conduit Hub Size: Trade size of a mating conduit hub (where specified by the manufacturer in such terms).
Panel Hole Size: For products intended to mount to a thin, flat surface (panel), the dimensions of a hole in the panel recommended by the manufacturer to facilitate mounting.
Material: Indicates the material composition of the device.
Includes: Indicates items included with purchase.
Color: The dominant color of the device.
Ingress Protection: IP (Ingress Protection) ratings such as (IP20, IP65, IP67, etc.) define how likely water and dirt will get into the system. The first number represents dirt and solid contaminants while the second represents water and liquids.
