Fiber Optics are cables that contains a glass or plastic thread enclosed within a jacketed material.

Style: Indicates whether it is a standard or multi-fiber cable.
Type: Indicates the type of optical channel used in the cable.
Length: Indicates the length of the cable.
Core Diameter: Typical diameter of light-carrying core material.
Cladding Diameter: Typical outer diameter of the material separating the optical fiber core from the jacket.
Jacket (Insulation) Material: Indicates the material composition of the outermost jacketing of the cable.
Jacket (Insulation) Diameter: Indicates the diameter of a cable/wire product’s outermost layer; a product’s overall thickness.
Tensile Strength: The maximum pulling force or stress that can be applied to a product or material before failure occurs, under manufacturer-defined test conditions.
Attenuation - Typ: Manufacturer’s characterization of optical signal loss per unit length of cable.
Refractive Index - Core: Defines the speed of light through the core material, in relation to the speed of light in a vacuum. A refractive index of 1.5, for example, indicates that light travels 1.5 times slower through the cable than it does through a vacuum.
Jacket Color: Indicates the color of the outermost insulation layer of a wire or cable product.
Ratings: Minimum performance standards of the cable, which are typically set by a third party.
Features: These are different capabilities or properties of the device such as
fiber count and zipcord.
