Task lighting is lighting specifically designed for a workspace or task to prevent glare, shadows, or too little light and provide the perfect illumination level for the space or task. Items in this category can be narrowed down by illumination color, size, housing material, ingress protection (IP) ratings, and various features.
SelectionCharacteristics
Illumination Color: Indicates the color of light produced by the device.
Luminous Flux: A measure of how much light the light source provides.
Length: The measurement of the distance across the longest section of the device.
Profile (W x H): Characterizes a device’s outer non-length dimensions.
Power - Rated: Typically this rating indicates the nominal amount of power you would expect the device to consume during normal operation.
Voltage - Supply: Typically represented by a range, this indicates the low and high voltage limits which one can expect standard operation. Voltages outside this range may damage the device and other system components.
Features: These are different capabilities or properties of the device such as dimmable or motion detection.
Housing Material: Indicates the material composition of the housing of the device.
Rated Life: Typically this is the amount of time a device will maintain an output of 70% or greater when operated according to specifications.
Termination Style: Selection of termination style used to connect the device to a system, such as cable leads or wire leads.
Operating Temperature: Recommended operating temperature, typically given in a range or as a maximum. Exceeding these temperatures may affect performance or damage the device and other system components.
Ingress Protection: IP (Ingress Protection) ratings such as (IP20, IP65, IP67, etc.) define how likely water and dirt will get into the system. The first number represents dirt and solid contaminants while the second represents water and liquids.

| 5 | Protected against dust. Limited ingress of dust permitted. | Will not affect operation of equipment 2-8 hours. Protected against jets of water. Limited ingress permitted. |
| 6 | Dust tight. No ingress of dust 2-8 hours. | Protected against powerful jets of water. Limited ingress permitted. |

Lens Type: Indicates the style and configuration of the lens of the device.
Approval Agency: An indication that the product meets the minimum safety standards of an approving agency. These agencies are either government entities or private third-party labs that protect consumer safety.
