Pneumatics, Hydraulics - Actuators/Cylinders

This Product Selection Guide contains information to help select products in the Pneumatics, Hydraulics - Actuators/Cylinders category on DigiKey.com

Pneumatic and hydraulics are means of converting pressure into mechanical energy. Hydraulics use pressurized liquids, while pneumatics use pressurized gasses, such as air. The actuators and cylinders included in this category can be narrowed down by construction, stroke length, operation, operating pressure, and more.

SelectionCharacteristics

Type: Indicates the style and configuration of the device.

Construction: The method by which the device’s cylinder is implemented in the body.

Stroke Length: The maximum rated travel distance of the actuator.

Operation: Describes the behavior of the device.

Operating Pressure: Indicates the range of working fluid pressures over which a device is specified to operate.

Connection Method: Indicates type and size of the fluid flow connectors on a device.

Features: These are different capabilities or properties of the device such as ISO standardized.

Shaft Detail: Describes the geometry of the end of the actuation end that typically connects to other components in a mechanical assembly.

Operating Temperature: Recommended operating temperature, typically given in a range or as a maximum. Exceeding these temperatures may affect performance or damage the device and other system components.
