Power driver modules provide the physical containment for power components, usually IGBTs and MOSFETs in a half bridge or one-, two- or three-phase configurations. Power semiconductors or dies are soldered or sintered on a substrate that carries the power semiconductors and provides electrical and thermal contact and electrical insulation where needed. Power modules provide a higher power density and are in many cases more reliable and easier to cool.
SelectionCharacteristics
Type: Indicates which common transistor technology forms the basis for the device, determining its overall behavior.
Configuration: Defines the internal circuit pattern and connections of the driver.
Current: This rating indicates the nominal amount of output current you would expect the device to provide during normal operation.
Voltage: This rating indicates the nominal amount of output voltage you would expect the device to provide during normal operation.
Voltage - Isolation: The maximum voltage difference that can be observed across the device’s isolation barrier before breakdown occurs and isolation is lost.
Mounting Type: Indicates how the device is attached.
Package / Case: Indicates the type of protective case used on an electronic component to allow easy handling, installation, and protection. This selection was determined to be the closest industry standard applicable to the supplier device packaging. Typically it is best to check the actual dimensions from the datasheet rather than depend on this terminology when designing your circuit.
