Rectangular cable assemblies contain a rectangular interconnect on one or both ends of a specified length of cable. Connector types include card edge, DIP, PCB, plug, SAE, socket, etc. Cable lengths range from 1/2 inch to over 80 feet. Usages include adapters, extensions, power splitter, patch, board in, etc.
SelectionCharacteristics
Connector Type: Indicates the style and configuration of the connectors used on the cable assembly.
Number of Positions: The number of contact positions available in the cable. This sometimes differs for connectors in the assembly, and thus can be listed in different contact groupings separated by commas.
Number of Rows: The number of horizontal rows the assembly’s contact positions are arranged into.
Pitch - Connector: Indicates the center-to-center spacing between contacts within a row on the connector of the cable assembly.
Pitch - Cable: For ribbon-type cables, indicates the center-to-center spacing between adjacent conductors in the cable.
Length: The length of the cable assembly, this length may or may not include the connectors. Please consult the individual datasheets.
Features: These are different capabilities or properties of the device such as a dust cap, friction lock, or polarizing key.
Color: The dominant color of the cable assembly.
Shielding: Whether or not the device possesses an electrically insulating barrier that helps to reduce or eliminate electromagnetic interference.
Usage: The typical expected usage the manufacturer designed the cable assembly for.
Cable Termination: Describes the means by which a conductor is electrically and mechanically attached to its corresponding contact within a connector.
Contact Finish: Indicates the finish/plating material applied to the contacts of the device.
Contact Finish Thickness: Indicates the thickness of the finish/plating material applied to the contacts of a device.
