This Product Selection Guide contains information to help select products in the Sensor, Capacitive Touch category on DigiKey.com
Products in this family provide the analog stimulus and measurement resources needed to operate a capacitance-based touch sensing transducer, and communicate information generated thereby in a format convenient for use with a microcontroller or similar device, such as an I2C or SPI serial interface, UART, or a simple logic signal. They are commonly used for human interface applications.
SelectionCharacteristics
DigiKey Programmable: For verified products, DigiKey can program/flash your compiled code or configuration variables prior to shipping. For unverified products, please enquire with ProgCent.Techs@digikey.com.
Type: Indicates the type(s) of sensors the device was designed for use with.
Proximity Detection: Indicates if a device is capable of being used for non-contact object detection.
Number of Inputs: Indicates the number of inputs incorporated into the device.
LED Driver Channels: Indicates the number of output pins available; may be used for LED control, host communications, or other purposes which vary by device.
Interface: Indication of which interface(s) or protocol(s) are used by the device to communicate with other components in the system.
Resolution: The length of the digital word used by a device to represent a continuously variable physical quantity.
Voltage - Supply: This rating indicates the nominal amount of voltage you would expect the device to draw during normal operation.
Current - Supply: This rating indicates the nominal amount of current you would expect the device to draw during normal operation.
Operating Temperature: Recommended operating temperature, typically given in a range or as a maximum. Exceeding these temperatures may affect performance or damage the device and other system components.
Mounting Type: Indicates how the device is attached.
Package / Case: Indicates the type of protective case used on an electronic component to allow easy handling, installation, and protection. This selection was determined to be the closest industry standard applicable to the supplier device packaging. Typically it is best to check the actual dimensions from the datasheet rather than depend on this terminology when designing your circuit.
Supplier Device Package: This is what the manufacturer calls the package of this device. They are manufacturer specific. It is typically best to use the actual dimensions from the datasheets rather than to go by this terminology when designing your circuit.
