We frequently get asked about what happens when a Vivado Design Suite license expires, if the user can still use their software, how frequently it needs to be renewed or updated, etc.
Vivado has a perpetual license, specifically for the version of the software that is being used when you purchase the license and any updates before the warranty expires (a.k.a. the Version Limit). Typically this is a time period of one year from date of purchase, but if you are unsure contact either us or an AMD representative to verify the length of the Version Limit on your license.
To reiterate, once the Version Limit is past, you can keep using your software in perpetuity, but it is no longer eligible for updates. For more details please see AMD’s FAQ page.
