Can you show some images of the connector itself, and can you measure the pitch of the pins in the connector? The pitch is the spacing from one pin to the next, center-to-center as shown here.
Welcome to the DigiKey TechForum! This one is a bit tricky as Sony is not well known for providing information on their proprietary components. Unfortunately in researching this it does not seem that anyone is providing part numbers for the contacts they’ve used to repair - it appears most somehow just replace the connector itself.
Pins typically aren’t something that so unique that they cannot be replaced with another one of similar make, however the connector itself might have some unique attributes that prevent other pins from being used. With that being said, the best thing to do is get full measurements and/or look for identifying markings on the pins that might allude to a manufacturer (although this is unlikely because of the proprietary nature).
Thanks for the response. Dualshock 2 is the name Sony used for their Playstation 2 controller. The pitch information is not much use, since they use a proprietary housing but here’s what the result looks like:
I was hoping it was possible to replace just the cable to keep using the OEM connector housing. I can source an entire cable + connector replacement easily. Thanks for the response.
