Hi,
Lynn House is looking for the right connectors for a call box for our nurse call system (a Rauland Responder 4000 R4K12A). I think one is a 6 pin and the other an 8 pin. Pictures of the pieces are below:
I did some looking on this by using Rauland Responder 4000 R4K12A but I didn’t have much luck. Unfortunately, without knowing the pitch, fastening type and few other attributes it’s very hard to get it narrowed down to what you are wanting to find.
It is possible that maybe someone else on here has better luck than me at finding the right connectors.
Thank for the additional photos, but without the pitch of the connectors, the spacing from the center of one contact to the center of the next one, it is much harder to find a connector that will work.
Here is a post on pitch for a cable, but the principle still applies.
Hello Again Jamey,
Those pitches do not match any of the headers we carry.
There is no way around using a micrometer to get the proper measurements.
It will be easier to find the proper matting connecter for the header after ID the head.
These are the specs I was able to ID from the picture:
6 and 8 position Header
Square pins
friction lock
1 wall shrouded These are the parts we carry with those specifications.
Your numbers don’t look right. Take a look at the link below for measuring connector pitch.
Basically, you measure the distance from first to last contact position (stay on the same side of each pin for more accurate measurement (so, left side of first pin to left side of last pin)) and then divide that length by one less than the number of pins.
So, if you reasonably accurately measured 17.46mm from first to last pin of your 8-pin connector, the pitch would be calculated as:
Hi Jamey,
Also take a close look at the broken connector housings. There may be some markings on them in letters or numbers. They would be small but with close examination there may be a series or manufacturer mark like KK or AMP, that could also help narrow down the options. Looks like the pin headers are right angle, take a look at DigiKey part WM4306-ND for the 8 pin header. The eight pin mating connector may be one of these options. Look at DigiKey part WM4304-ND for the six pin header. The six pin mating connector may be this one, DigiKey part WM4267-ND. You will need to buy the crimp contacts separately which can be found at the bottom of the page for the connector housings under “Associated Products” . Select the contact by the size wire gauge you will be using. Also, verify the dimensions of these connectors match what you already have. Dimensions can be found linked on the product page under datasheet or product drawing. Be sure to also check the pitch, the options I gave you have a 2.54mm pitch, a quick way to check the pitch on the headers is to use a millimeter ruler and measure from the center of one pin to the center of the pin next to it, preferably at the base of the pins, not at the top. This isn’t always exact but will give you a good idea of what the pitch is.
Hi All,
Thank you! I found a millimeter ruler and got what seem like better measurements for the pitches. The 8 pin is most likely a 2.54 (looked like more than 2), and the 6 pin looks like 3mm.
Unfortunately, I did not find any markings on the connector housings.
We need the female connectors for both of these (assuming that is the plastic part that the wires connect to on one side and the pins plug into on the other). Could you recommend the most likely ones to fit given the pictures and the revised pitches?
As far as the gauge of the wire, I was only able to measure it with the insulation on–that was about a millimeter.
Also, do we need any other parts to connect the wires to the connectors? If so, could you recommend those?
Thank you!!!
Thank you for contacting DigiKey , for the 6 position I am not seeing that we have anything to offer for a 3mm pitch , for the 8 position the ones Steve gave you should work , when you click on a part number in the link it will take you to the information page for that part , scroll down the page and the contacts are listed as associated products . on the contact info page the crimp tools are listed under Tooling .
I’d suspect that the plugs used are not originals but some handyman’s fixes. Should concentrate on the PCB headers, which seem to be Molex KK254 series (see the unsymmetrical friction lock on the 6-pin header). I bet the 8-pin one is same series (thus also with 2.54mm pitch. Try plugging in the black connector to both, if mates, then they are having same pitch).
