Optical Sensors - Photo Detectors - Remote Receiver

This Product Selection Guide contains information to help select products in the Optical Sensors - Photo Detectors - Remote Receiver category on DigiKey.com

Products in the Remote Receiver Photo Detector family integrate a light sensitive element such as a photodiode with filtering and amplification functions, and are used as receivers for information transmitted via modulated infrared light. Most commonly found in devices such as televisions and other consumer products that are manipulated through the use of handheld remote controls, available devices vary in the extent of the filtering and signal processing they provide, resulting in various degrees of sensitivity and immunity to interfering ambient light.

SelectionCharacteristics

Specifications to determine which remote receiver photo detector is right for your application.

Sensing Distance: The distance within which the sensor can receive an input and produce a valid output.

B.P.F. Center Frequency: The frequency to which the part’s internal bandpass noise rejection filter is tuned; the carrier frequency of a modulated input that the part is designed to receive.

Voltage - Supply: Typically represented by a range, this indicates the low and high voltage limits which one can expect standard operation. Voltages outside this range may damage the device and other system components.

Current - Supply: This represents the maximum current to which a device will meet its given specifications. Exceeding this current may damage the device and/or other system components.

Orientation: Which side of the sensor it senses on.

Mounting Type: Indicates how the device is attached.

Operating Temperature: Recommended operating temperature, typically given in a range or as a maximum. Exceeding these temperatures may affect performance or damage the device and other system components.
